Fun Fit

Fun Fit (gross motor skills)

The aim of Fun Fit is to improve a child’s co-ordination skills and underlying postural stability and balance. Fun Fit improves the foundations of movement. Postural control in necessary to stabilize the body for different movements.

  • Whole body extension (stretching)
  • Whole body flexion (curling)
  • Body rotation (twisting in the middle)
  • Shoulder stability
  • Pelvic stability
  • Co-ordinating both sides of the body together

Activities will help to improve specific skills such as:

  • Eye-hand co-ordination
  • Body awareness
  • Spatial awareness
  • Ball skills

Improving these skills can help with:

  • sitting in class
  • handwriting
  • dressing and changing for P.E lessons
  • balancing activities

Children who can access these sessions:

  • children with Occupational therapy plans
  • children with weak coordination skills
  • children who have difficulty with handwriting
  • children who have difficulty in sitting still in lessons
  • children who tend to have access energy and need to move

The children in these sessions also benefit from social interaction skills:

  • following instructions
  • waiting to take turns
  • wanting to improve skills for themselves

We encourage the children to only be in competition with themselves as these sessions focus on their own ability and it is important for them to see their own success.
